Documentary of Bukit Melawati

This is another group project for this semester - MALB113 or simply said, Bahasa Melayu Korporat. We had two options initially, either to come up with a documentary pertaining the heritage of Malaysia or a corporate video pertaining to the organisation at UNITEN itself.

The fact that the corporate video would be too formal makes us choosing the documentary as the focus of our group project this time. Speaking of the heritage of Malaysia, it is actually too broad and too general for us to talk about in one short video. It could be anything like cultural tradition such as food, dance, musical instruments, unspoiled countryside, or maybe historic building or city that is so called as heritage. Therefore, we have to narrow the scope of the documentary down by specifying a topic to be focused on in that video.

Bukit Melawati or Altinberg Fort which is located at Kuala Selangor topped the vote as the chosen heritage during our first group discussion. Oh yea, this project contributes 20% of our carry marks for this subject. Another 20% comes from another project which is the written report for 'Analisis Penggunaan Bahasa'.

To make our work easier, we hired someone from an official production house named Eternity Production to help us record and edit the video. The cost altogether was RM250 including the service of shooting, editing as well as packaging (DVD). Not to mention about the cost to travel to that place, I believe that we had splurged more than RM350 for the sole purpose of this project. Well, it took us around four hours to actually finish shooting on that particular day (8th of December 2012). Now this is the time when I should introduce the person named Abang Syukri to you guys. He is the editor and the one that went with us to film the video. Thanks to him, we managed to finish this swiftly and even became the first group to submit our assignment despite of the fact that we were actually among the late groups to start the filming process. He merely took two days to edit it, and the outcome was quite satisfying.

However, there are still a few things that can be improved in the future, in terms of the video itself, and also the way of hosting the documentary. Who was the host? Haha, it was ME! LOL, I should practice and brush up my skill even more in order to become a good host. It was seriously tiring but still enjoyable. We had a whale of a time there, you know, goofing around with all those grey and yellow monkeys, eating ice-cream and cendol, and of course, filming in a crowd of visitors that were actually having a program called "Photo Hunt" organized by Nikon. I was like, "Of my, of all day, why must you be here today, Nikon people?".

So, I will update this post with our group video, just for fun, for you to laugh and criticize this TV-host-to-be in the future as my part time career (I wish I could, haha, but no one is interested in hiring me I guess) right after the due date for this assignment submission. For the time being, I'll just post these few pictures of my group members and I (plus Abang Syukri) at Bukit Melawati.

p/s: Our group consists of six members: Raymond, Faiz, Aaron, Kavin, E Jet and I. Unfortunately, not all members were able to go there for the filming process. There were only three of us on that day since they couldn't make it for certain reasons.

Yummy, yummy~
